Hangang Park

So I bet you're wondering what Korean families do on weekends in the big cities? Where could the families have safe fun over weekends to relax and get out of the house. Well here's one answer - Hangang Park - (Gang in korean means "river") - Han River Park.

Hangang Park is a huge park located right next to the Han River. It covers a wide area next to the river.
Korean families come here to enjoy the weekend away from from the small apartments. Away from the shopping centers, from the streets and PC-rooms, where most kids are found these days.

There are quite a few things that could be done in this park. Activities include jogging, cycling, camping, walking, baseball, soccer, volleyball, inline skating, skateboarding, sandpits for the kids, flying kites, swimming pools, fishing and more that I might not have seen.

Korean people take their tents almost everywhere. The reason for it is, to stay out of the sun. Korean people often times dress themselves from head to toes in the middle of the humid summer with visors and masks to keep the sun away from their skin. So need to say that the park is full of tents everywhere you look.

The park also has some areas with natural wild grass and flowers with little paths to walk along. The cycling path goes all along the river and give great views as you drive along. You can also see some sail boats on the river and every now and then someone on a jet-ski, having some fun.

This park is a great place to relax and I would recommend it to anyone who lives in Seoul and would like to have a picnic, a bike ride next to the river or just want to fly a kite.
