Art Toy Culture

I've been experiencing a little of a bottle neck when it comes to editing my photos and uploading them. The computer i'm currently using is a loan and has a pretty slow processor. Nevertheless here's an experience that I would like to share.

About a month ago I went to and ART TOY CULTURE - exhibition at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. Pretty impressive architecture, which I will be sharing in a later post. Back to the exhibition.

The exhibition was, as the name says, about toys. Not just any toys, it's not called ART TOY CULTURE, for nothing. These toys are for the collector spirits and die hard fans out there. People who would really appreciate the weird and wacky designs. People who are willing to pay an obscene amount of money for a toy that is not that much worth to look at.

The most popular stand that I could see, was one with box characters. It was sold as a flat sheet of paper and you had to assemble your own box toy. They looked pretty cool and would've loved to buy them for my sisters' and brother's kids. Unfortunately, I also would've been broke.

One toy that can be seen below, was being sold at $600. Others were a it less, but pretty much still out of my price range.

The toys I enjoyed the most were the "famous" characters of course. Wall-E was by far the cutest looking character and I would've loved to see it on my desk, staring at me with those longing eyes. Batman, Terminator, Robocop and Avatar was also among the favorites.

Other cool exhibition included some awesome lamp characters. I can definitely see myself buy one of these.

I definitely enjoyed seeing all these toys and if it weren't for the prices (my adult side), I would've felt like a kid again.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.

Of course I had to get a picture from inside the spaceship. To think, a month ago we were still wearing some sweatshirts and now in June summer has started to catch up quickly.
