Korean Style Pork

Korean food can usually be recognized by the tons of signature side dishes they serve with your meal. Last night I went out with some friends for dinner and we went for some Samgyeopsal (삼겹살 = which is a kind of pork cut). 삼겹살 can be served both thinly sliced or a with thicker cut.

Accompanied with the pork you will almost always find Kimchi (김치= fermented cabbage), Doenjang jiggae (된장 찌개 = Soybean paste stew with tofu and other ingredients), most always rice and a lot of other smaller dishes.

With it, you also get a lot of different kinds of lettuce, celery, kale and many more green leaves. You take these leaves, take some pork, some side dishes of your choice(rice, onions, kimchi etc), some sauce or paste and put it inside the leaves.  Basically making a wrap or bundle. Then you shove this bundle into your mouth and enjoy all the flavors coming together.

It's quite delicious and feels like it's an healthier option for dinner. Especially when you look at all the nutritional value of the green veggies that they have put up on the wall.

I actually like the idea of wrapping your food up in the fresh lettuce or kale. It's definitely something that I would try back home with some chicken and beef dinner recipes.

What do you think? Does it look delicious? Would you like to incorporate some of this in your next dinner?
